Health systems in Europe are failing to deliver universal access to high quality maternal healthcare that encompasses every woman. Marginalised groups such as immigrant and ethnic minorities are worryingly under-served and are at risk. Maternal healthcare must be prioritised by governments and organisations and The Alliance for Maternal Health Equality aims to push the issue up the political agenda.

With this goal in sight, we bring together key actors at EU and national level to work towards ensuring that policies exist and are implemented at all levels. We will champion research into health systems and accurate measurement of their usability, ensuring better data is created around maternal health access. The right to maternal healthcare across Europe must be enshrined by actively streamlining the issue into all policies.
